Ketchapp’s 2048, inspired by Gabriele Cirulli’s web-based game with the same name, is now the top downloaded free app on iTunes. And for good reason too. The game is just as addictive as Flappy Bird and other bird games before it.

Updated to version 1.1 this week, 2048 features new goals, including the 4096 tile or even higher, as well as some user interface improvements and a new “How to Play” screen. The player’s final score is now displayed on the Game Over screen (in case you want to take a screenshot), and best scores are now uploaded to Game Center, even if you played offline.

The developer also has a message for players who are trying to adjust the volume but can’t manage to do that.

“If you want to adjust the sound volume of the game, please make sure to TURN ON ‘CHANGE WITH BUTTONS’ option in the settings of your iPhone or iPad. Settings > Sounds > Change with Buttons. With that option turned ON, you will be able to adjust the sound volume in the game.”

Ketchapp advises players to “take a break, if needed,” preventing a backlash. Download 2048 on any iOS 4.3 device and enjoy. Supported languages include English and French.
