Local telecom carriers in Taiwan are not waiting on the edge of their seats for the iPhone 5s shipments to trickle in. According to sources in the local retail channel, they’re not exactly thrilled with Apple’s marketing terms.

The same issue is said to have prevented China Mobile from reaching an agreement to carry the iPhone, but while the Chinese operator has loosened up lately, Taiwan telecoms aren’t convinced the iPhone is good for their business.

Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes has received word from sources in the local retail channels that “local telecom carriers including Chunghwa Telecom, Taiwan Mobile, Far EasTone Telecommunications seem to be less enthusiastic about marketing the iPhone 5s compared with previous Apple products.”

Nonetheless, the carriers have already placed orders for a small amount of the new iPhone models, which are expected to arrive in Taiwan in late October or mid-November.

The reasons why these carriers aren’t flocking for orders are “a lack of new features available on iPhone 5s compared to the previous iPhone 5, as well as a variety of new models from other vendors,” according to the sources.
