Intego today announced Washing Machine 2014, the latest version of the company’s utility designed to optimize efficiency on OS X computers, starting with Snow Leopard and newer operating systems.

Washing Machine 2014 is like a mole that digs through your system, looks for chunks of unnecessary files (big and small), and frees up disk space.

Intego, a company that specializes in security software, says its cleaning utility can also speed up the OS, organize the dock and desktop, and allow users to make their own Smart Folders for instant access to files they use on a regular basis.

Washing Machine 2014 works with OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, OS X 10.7 Lion, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, and the latest Mac operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks. The software sells for $29.99/ £24.99 / €29.99.

You can sign up for a free trial by just handing over your email address to Intego. The app is now supported in four new languages: German, French, Spanish, and Japanese.

Intego has set up a cool, Apple-style web site with neat animations dedicated entirely to the app. Check it out at macwashingmachine.com.
