With all the music-streaming giants battling for the crown, you’d probably stay away from the business as a lonesome iOS developer. But not Andrei Avram. He’s single-handedly taking on giants Pandora and Spotify with an app called StereoTube Music Player for iOS.

Marketed as “the best way to listen music on YouTube,” StereoTube Music Player is essentially just another music streaming service with built-in playlists, trending songs, tools to discover new music, and “access to millions of songs.” But there’s at least one area where StereoTube thinks different, and that area is price.

Where Pandora and Spotify (and other music streaming services) charge a monthly / annual fee for their offerings, StereoTube comes with a one-time-only purchase price of $1.99 / €1.79. From then on, all your music streaming will be free of charge.

Andrei doesn’t say anything about the sound quality, so basically this is where you have to decide if StereoTube has enough bang for your buck. YouTube videos have varying sound quality, as you probably know. But if your musical needs aren’t overly specific, StereoTube should offer a great experience.

The Romanian developer promises to offer full assistance to anyone who may incur problems using the app, including refunds, and even takes requests for upcoming features.
