The new Skype for iPhone has borrowed some of the features from the Windows Phone version. The 5.2 update has something new for its users, including an old feature that got lost along the way.

Skype for iPhone (not for iPad just yet) got a truly awesome makeover a while ago. The Interface looks a lot like its Windows Phone 7 counterpart, but it's also fluid and easy to use on iOS.

The developers have changed the way the app opens and what you see first. Now the most recent calls are on the first page, followed by "favorites" and "people" tabs.

At the bottom of the screen we've got a dialer button and a bubble chat icon. Also, in the upper right corner, there's an icon that will take you to your Skype profile and settings.

Skype prides itself for the ease of finding your friends right away and how you can easily type a message instead of talking. The low cost feature is a little bit overrated since WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and others offer free Wi-Fi calling.

The new 5.2 version that came out today offers a way to view your contacts' profile info by tapping on their names and then selecting the "Profile" from the menu.

A new important feature is Voice Message support. You can now send and receive voice messages. The user is also able to add participants to existing chats or remove the contacts without having to block them .

Skype is an eleven-year-old company that was acquired by Microsoft in 2011.
