The boys at Microsoft are rolling out yet another Skype update with no release notes, leaving users wondering what’s changed. Skype 6.17.477 is immediately available for download on computers running the latest version of OS X.

In case you’re wondering what’s new in Skype 6.17.477, your guess is as good as mine. I’m not an avid user, but whoever employs Skype to do regular video chats might notice something or other. In any case, it’s the newest version so it’s probably more stable, better looking, etc. It could also come with a bug that renders it useless, so with that in mind, proceed at your own will.

Microsoft recently “set out on a journey to deliver a modern Skype experience designed for today’s communication needs,” according to the company’s latest blog post.

The giant software company recently started testing a revamped interface on a small set of Windows desktop users, and it is planning to do the same with Mac people. According to Apple’s rival, “The new UI aims to bring a clean and modern look to Skype, providing you with a delightful and coherent experience across all clients.”

So there you have it. Keep your fingers crossed for an improved experience, and download Skype 6.17.477 for your Mac whenever you’re ready (Mavericks required).
