Video game publisher Electronic Arts announces that its SimCity builder is now also available on Mac, with all those who have bought the game on the PC getting access to the new version for free.

Gamers will be able to populate their regions of the game with cities created in both versions of the game, according to PCGamesN.

Leaderboards are also shared so that all those who play SimCity will be able to compare their performance in the game.

The title was affected by some serious problems on launch, mainly because of the server-based requirements of its always-on nature.

Since then, fans also discovered serious problems with the core mechanics, which the development team has been fixing via patches.

It will be interesting to see whether the launch of the Mac version of SimCity drives up interest in the game once more.
