A love story between a gasoline tank and a box of matches

Leann Rimes’ “Gasoline and Matches” was shot entirely on an iPhone, according to its producers. A stop-motion animation clip, the video portrays a love story between a box of matches and a gasoline tank.

Released in collaboration with Rob Thomas and Jeff Beck this weekend, the stop-motion video includes occasional shots of Rimes and Thomas, and emphasizes the toys in the story.

Choosing an iPhone to shoot the video is flattering to Apple and the iPhone user base implicitly, but it’s also worth noting that this is not a marketing stunt on behalf of the Cupertino giant. The iPhone simply shoots awesome video and photos.

The video is truly breathtaking, and I encourage readers to hit the play button above. Directed and filmed by Ian Padgham, “Gasoline and Matches” was written by Buddy Miller and Julie Miller. It was produced by Darrell Brown, Ian Padgham, and LeAnn Rimes.
