The Kindle iOS app is now optimized for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, giving users the ability to access over 1,000,000 Kindle books, newspapers, magazines, textbooks and PDFs. The app also offers a new X-ray viewing option in version 3.5.

Amazon introduces X-Ray for Books, a new feature in its iOS client app that lets you see the “bones of the book.”

The feature is said to help readers learn more about notable characters, places, and phrases. It uses descriptions from Shelfari.com and Wikipedia to achieve this feat.

The update also brings Manga Image Rendering Improvements.

Kindle is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. It requires iOS 5.0 or later and the app is optimized for iPhone 5.
