The team at WhatsApp (or Facebook, or whatever they like to be called these days) is reportedly working on a tablet version of their popular messaging application. The rumor comes from an unnamed employee.

Quoted by Bild.de, this person said that “many users want [WhatsApp for iPad]” and implied that the team is working on such a product. Moreover, the upcoming WhatsApp Messenger will also leverage iOS 8’s Quick Reply feature.

“Take action on texts, email, calendar invitations, reminders, and even messages from apps like Facebook right from their notification banners — without leaving the app you’re in. Now it’s easy to quickly reply to important messages and keep doing what you were doing,” reads Apple’s marketing.

Since iPad is mostly used for web surfing, the Quick Reply feature will come in extremely handy for people who are constantly chatting with their friends while doing something else on their tablet.

WhatsApp should have long been made available for iPad in a native form. Now that Facebook has acquired the service, it seems saner heads have prevailed. However, now that Apple has borrowed key features from all the best IM clients out there, the company’s Messages app in iOS 8 will be a worthwhile replacement for WhatsApp.
