Samsung may have been the first company to bring a larger screen phone, but Apple surely topped that with huge sales for their devices. Apple has officially announced how the iPhone 6 sales are going. And the numbers are better than everyone thought they would be.

In the first 24 hours, Apple customers have pre-ordered 4 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices.

To put that in context, these are truly record numbers. Last year, 9 million iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s handsets were sold in the first weekend (3 days). That averages to about 3 million per day. So we have an increase of about 33%.

The numbers are even bigger when compared to the sales for the Samsung Galaxy S5, the latest and greatest phone coming from the Korean manufacturer. They have sold about 10 million devices in the first 25 days. That averages to about 400,000 phones per day and makes Samsung ten times smaller than Apple in that chart.

Another good indicator is the Nexus 4, the device that the iPhone 6 was compared with. Only 375,000 such phones were sold in the first six months, so the average does not go over 2,100 devices per day.
