iPhone owner had set up the phone to upload photos automatically

A dumb iPhone thief has accidentally posted photos of himself on the phone owner’s Facebook page, which will most likely lead cops to revealing his identity.

But hey, this sort of thing happens all the time. The best part of this story is that the mugger reportedly took photos of himself while taking huge hits of weed.

As the story goes, a 27-year-old woman had her iPhone stolen on March 2nd near East Tremont Avenue and the Grand Concourse in the Bronx at around 3 a.m, the Gothamist reports.

The guy you see above is the actual thief (click for full size). How did the photos end up on the victim’s Facebook page? Easy!

Apparently the woman had set her iPhone so that any photo taken with its camera gets instantly uploaded to the social network. To be frank, that’s not the smartest thing to do either. But at least in this case, it may prove worthwhile.

If you think you know the thief, or might have any information that could help the police catch him, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
