Parallels Inc. has pushed out a new incremental release of Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac, the company’s flagship virtualization software which enables Mac users to install other operating systems (such as Windows) on their Apple computers.

The overall purpose of the update (labeled as 8.0.18480.859305 if anyone’s asking) is to address overall stability and performance issues. However, the new Parallels also includes a number of enhancements.

According to the official changelog, people who use Parallels 8 on a new-generation iMac will notice that the software works better now.

Users attempting to create Boot Camp virtual machines on new iMacs with 3 TB hard drives will no longer encounter issues. Creating virtual machines from the Boot Camp partition with Windows 8 installed is now possible, and Linux fans are getting support for Fedora 18.

A few fixes are included as well. When changing screen resolution in a Windows 8 Pro virtual machine, “visual artifacts” would pop up in certain conditions (with more than 256 MB of VRAM and nested virtualization enabled). That problem has been fixed, says the company. And an issue with the Command + click combination is also addressed.
