Early adopters of the Haswell-based new Retina MacBook Pro are incurring system freezes on a regular basis, leading to speculation that there might be something wrong with the computers.

A thread with over 20,000 views spanning 31 pages is enough to deem the issue widespread, and there are several other threads discussing similar problems (some involving Windows 8 installations via Boot Camp).

All in all, it seems that Apple will be required to roll out a new EFI firmware update for Late 2013 13-inch MacBook Pros with Retina Display.

The Cupertino giant is currently mum, but there’s a pretty good chance Apple’s software engineers are already hard at work coding up the patch. We’ll let you know when it comes out.
