Norway-based Opera Software has released a new version of its desktop web browser for Macs, adding support for high-density displays and sharing features in the latest Mac OS.

Bringing numerous cross-platform enhancements (detailed in the full changelog on opera.com), Opera 12.12 Final allows Mountain Lion customers to use the built-in share function from Opera's Share button in the address bar.

Notification Center in OS X 10.8 will also display alerts stemming from Opera (such as when a download completes).

Secondly, “Opera on Mac now supports twice the pixel density, which will give much crisper text and with a new skin Opera looks better than ever.”

In other words, if you’re rocking one of the new MacBook Pros with Retina displays, Opera is fully compatible.

Opera continues to hemorrhage market share as Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox are leading the browser wars.
