The Omni Group’s official web browsing application for Mac users, OmniWeb has received a significant update which adds Safari 7.0 compatibility. The update is currently in testing, but end-users can download the beta and try it out.

OmniWeb 6.0 R199837 Test allows users to tell the app to identify itself to a website as Safari 7.0. This can be done under Site Preferences -> Other.

The old Scripts menu is now replaced by the global script menu bar item which users can enabled in AppleScript Editor’s preferences. A regression bug causing cookies to be lost when quitting the app has been addressed.

Other changes and updates involve JavaScript Spoofing, Global Site Preferences and Redirect Loop. Notably, when the user asks OmniWeb to identify itself as another browser, the setting will not only affect HTTP identification, but also JavaScript identification.

According to the developers, “This means that if you tell OmniWeb to identify as Safari 7.0, it can once again use icloud.com.” Download the new OmniWeb for Mac OS X and give it a try today.
