A research note issued by Deutsche Bank Equity Research indicates that Apple is on track to hit mainstream PCs yet again, by releasing a 64-bit, fifth-generation iPad which could be unveiled at a special event as soon as next week.
Chris Whitmore of Deutsche Bank Equity Research tells investors, “We…expect growing [desktop] virtualization and iPad deployments in the enterprise to pressure corporate PC sales through 2014-15.”
Whitmore adds, “We expect AAPL’s [Apple's] iPad refresh to include 64 bit architecture, which should enable a greater array of enterprise App development and facilitate greater enterprise penetration over time.”
The 64-bit architecture is a direct reference to Apple’s A7 chip, introduced with the iPhone 5s last month.
According to 9to5mac, Apple is believed to have already scheduled a second event for fall 2013, and that event could be just around the corner – October 15 (next week).
