Developer Fangcheng Yin is offering up his Network Speed Monitor application at a discount, so I thought I’d bring some attention to this comprehensive utility for tracking your Internet speed.

Available for $1.99 / €1.89 from the Mac App Store, this cheap utility displays your current network speed by the second, including download and upload data. It sits quietly and conveniently in the menubar, and offers a wide range of options.

For example, you can change the refresh interval from 1 second to 10 seconds, switch from Bits per second to Bytes per second, check your real network speed (to see if your provider is delivering on its promise), see which apps slowing down your network, keep track of bandwidth usage, and more.

If you need a utility solely for tracking your network speed, I suggest you download Network Speed Monitor sooner rather than later (the normal asking price is $9.99 / €8.99).
