All signs point to Apple rolling out its SSL patch in the coming hours

It seems everyone is taking Apple’s “goto fail” flaw seriously except Apple itself, but if the company’s statement to Reuters this weekend is any indication, the patch should arrive in the coming hours.

For one reason or another, Apple’s engineers didn’t bother looking in OS X for the flaw they’d just patched on iOS on Friday. The next day, security experts were up in arms over the discovery that Apple had the serious security issue open in its desktop software.

Then came Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller who told Reuters (emphasis mine), “We are aware of this issue and already have a software fix that will be released very soon.” That “very” there isn't found very often in Apple's PR vocabulary.

I can’t tell you why they didn’t fix the OS X flaw it in tandem with the iOS bug, but if Muller’s statement is any indication, OS X 10.9.2 should drop later today containing said patch. It’s either that or a PR fiasco.
