Apple indeed has two new versions of the iPhone 6 planned for launch this year, if the latest industry chatter is anything to go by. However, we generally don’t put too much faith in these reports, so take the news with a few ounces of salt.

DigiTimes claims that Taiwanese flexible PCB suppliers stand to make a handsome profit from Apple’s iPhone orders this year, mainly because the company has two big handsets lined up for launch.

As previously rumored, the site alleges that Apple has a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch model in the works. A passage from the report mentioning the two phone models has been excerpted below.

“Flexible PCB suppliers Zhen Ding Technology Holding and Flexium Interconnect are poised for strong shipment growth in 2014 amid market speculations indicating that Apple is likely to launch 4.7- and 5.5-inch iPhones in the year, according to industry sources.”

It doesn’t seem too likely for Apple to introduce a phablet after completely refusing to go beyond four inches for years. The 4.7-inch model, on the other hand, is more believable and actually quite plausible.

This year, it is believed that Apple will announce its iPhone refresh a few months earlier than in previous years. If so, the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will probably be the time and place for the announcement.
