Office for Mac 2011 users have a fresh update to install from the boys in Redmond, this time to patch a number of security fixes in the productivity suite.

Update 14.3.4 fixes what Microsoft calls “critical issues” that an attacker can use to inject malicious code into your computer.

More specifically, Microsoft notes in a support document on its web site that mail flags are broken in IMAP in Microsoft Outlook for Mac.

Microsoft Office for Mac 2011 version 14.3.4 “Fixes an issue that affects IMAP-based email accounts in which the flagged or starred state of a message was not set correctly,” according to the makers of Windows.

Microsoft says the update applies to Office 2011, Office 2011 Home and Business Edition, Word 2011, Excel 2011, PowerPoint 2011, Outlook 2011, Office for Mac Standard 2011 Edition, Microsoft Office for Mac Home & Student 2011, and Microsoft Office for Mac Academic 2011.
