14 DAY TRIAL // The people at PicClick.com don’t agree with critics of the iPhone who “often say that the design and features of each new model barely change and each phone is just a slightly tweaked version of the last.”
They say they wanted to put this claim to the test, but we all know they just wanted to show off their fancy image-morphing skills. Regardless, we like what they’ve come up with: three mesmerizing animated GIF pictures that show the evolution of the handset from every angle that matters.
I’m siding with those who believe that the iPhone indeed has some areas where change is needed. I’ve opined on several occasions that while the back of the phone has undergone some visible changes throughout the years, the faces of the handsets are nearly identical, differing only in size.
However, it’s also worth remembering that Apple isn’t in the business of shocking the world with bold new designs that prove impractical once you pick up the phone to use it. They prefer refining what is already a brilliant phone, and while that doesn’t sit well with everyone, it certainly seems to be the winning formula for Apple.
I’ve embedded two of the GIFs for your viewing pleasure below. Personally, I think the image quality could use a boost, but the results are nonetheless noteworthy. I can’t believe this hasn’t been done before.
