Users of 30-day trial versions can trick the system into thinking they have full apps

If you’re using trial versions of Apple’s iWork apps or Aperture, chances are you can just waltz into the Mac App Store and request a free upgrade to the full apps.

According to reports, there’s a bug in the Mac App Store (which Apple can’t even fix, apparently) which enables you to download the full version of otherwise paid iWork apps by using the trial version of the suite. Same goes for Aperture, users say.

Apple this week made iWork free of charge for buyers of a new Mac or iOS device. But the contents of the suite – Keynote, Pages, and Numbers – are standalone paid applications for customers who aren’t using one of the newest Macs, iPhones, or iPads. And it’s these customers that can use the Mac App Store bug to their advantage.
