Apple recently issued a press statement confirming that the cellular versions of its new iPad mini and iPad 4 would reach China on January 18, this Friday. However, any order for cellular iPad minis placed today in China is slated to materialize in two weeks’ time.

On January 15 Apple announced that “the Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of iPad mini and the new fourth generation iPad with Retina display will be available in China on Friday, January 18.”

While the company’s online store in China has certainly updated its listings to enable ordering, the shipping date quoted on the site is two weeks.

Rumor has it that Apple has shifted a bunch of component orders recently to put iPhone and iPad manufacturing on par with demand. On the tablet front, people seem to be more into the diminutive tablet computer than the full-fledged iPads with Retina displays.
