NAVER Japan Corporation, the author of several successful iOS apps, has released LINE 3.8.0, a new version of its popular communication app that allows you to make free voice calls and send free text messages with Emoji icons.

Version 3.8.0 adds a new Brown theme, new Emoji featuring LINE characters and other emoticons, as well as a new feature to download all stickers used on a previous device when you migrate to a new one, say the iPhone 5S (when it’s released this fall).

Other additions include a new Notes feature to 1:1 chats, an increased maximum number of characters for each message (10,000 chars.), easier posting of photos and stickers on Timeline and Home, and a new option to toggle notifications ON and OFF for multiple member chat rooms.

LINE works on all iDevices, but displays natively only on small screens. It requires iOS 4.3.
