Russian security firm Kaspersky hack kicked off an initiative to bolster the security of iOS devices worldwide with a series of tips on how to lock down your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

Tweeted minutes ago by the Russian security company founded by Eugene Kaspersky, the lock-down effort is divided in a series of tutorials at Threatpost.com.

The first post is a short, step-by-step video explaining some simple ways to secure your iOS device.

Power users may want to skip over a few tips, such as enabling the four-digit passcode lock, and other trivial settings. However, Kaspersky also includes other types of tips, such as where to keep your backups, and so on.

All in all, the tutorial is a treasure-trove of information for security-aware users.

Kaspersky believes that, “Considering the rapid proliferation of smartphones and tablets and the vast wealth of personal and financial data many of us store on them, it is increasingly important that we find ways of securing our mobile devices.”
