“Only one person could be Steve Jobs and that was Steve,” says the former Apple CEO

Interviewed by CNBC Asia today, former Apple CEO John Sculley has been quoted as saying, “I think Cook is doing a terrific job.”

This, despite a lot of claims (from various industry leaders and analysts) that Apple has stopped innovating since the demise of visionary genius, Steve Jobs.

But Sculley, who was directly responsible for Jobs getting fired from Apple in the 80s, believes Apple is thriving under Cook.

“He’s not trying to be Steve jobs; only one person could be Steve Jobs and that was Steve,” Sculley told interviewers.

“Steve could make the big creative leaps. What Tim is doing is continuing the Apple philosophy of no compromise and quality of their products and great styling. I think people are giving Apple a bum rap on what is still a great company with great products,” he added.

It’s no surprise, then, that Sculley is keeping a tight grip on the Apple shares he owns. Resonating with analysts who believe AAPL is extremely undervalued today, Sculley boasts, “I’m still very optimistic that Apple’s going to do just fine”

“It doesn’t mean that Android won’t be larger in market share, it already is, but Apple makes great quality products.”
