Simple utility checks and reports the presence of Flashback malware

FlashbackChecker, a handy tool compiled by an indie developer, runs the tests described in the F-Secure Bulletin as of April 6th, 2012 and reports the presence of Flashback malware on Mac OS X.

Users should note that FlashbackChecker does not remove the Flashback trojan, if by any chance it does find your Mac infected. Instead, it only reports on its existence and whisks you away to F-Secure’s site (which the developer is not affiliated with, btw) where you can find extensive instructions on how to manually remove the Trojan if detected.

To use the tool, simply download FlashbackChecker from Softpedia, unzip the FlashbackChecker application, run it, and click the “Check for Flashback Infection” button.

FlashbackChecker supports Mac OS X 10.5 and up, as well as both  PowerPC and Intel processors.
