It takes up to two seconds to answer / initiate the call

Ever since I’ve switched to iPhone 6, I’ve been noticing a strange behavior in the Phone app. It lags before it connects the call. It’s something I previously didn’t experience under iOS 7 and / or my iPhone 5.

I’ll admit it could be just me, but sometimes the call takes up to two full seconds to make the connection. This never happened when I was on iOS 7, and I’m reluctant to blame it on the new hardware (which came pre-installed with iOS 8). If anything, the iPhone 6 should allow me to hear the voice of my caller even faster. The lag also applies to my Yosemite Mac. What gives, Apple?

The people in Cupertino who sell the iPhone are known to be testing not one but two software updates for release in the near future. One is iOS 8.1.3, an incremental update destined to patch bugs. This one is the first candidate if you have a nuisance you want fixed in iOS 8.

The second update Apple is known to be working on is iOS 8.2, a far more serious release that will not only include fixes, but also some new features. According to recent leaks, this update will improve the Health app. Though I’m pretty sure there are more pressing issues in the software. Just saying.
