If you’ve just bought your first Mac and are looking to fill it up with some apps, your first stop should undoubtedly be the Mac App Store.

Once there, check out the newly-opened “Great Free Apps” area, where you’ll be able to download every app you need to get up and running. Chances are you won’t have to spend another dime ever.

The section is divided into two panes, one for apps (productivity, photography, audio, video, etc.) and one for games.

Notable free apps highlighted by Apple include 123Make (a 3D design tool by Autodesk), Evernote (the popular note taking app), Motion FX (a powerful tool that applies cool effects to your videos), Pocket (the king of offline reading tools), and many others.

Games-wise, Apple recommends titles like Reaper, CRS Racing, Pocket Planes, Eternity Warriors 2, Zen Pinball 2, The Sandbox, and more.
