Today Google updated its Maps app for iOS with several new features and bug fixes. Google Maps 4.4.0 brings support for viewing maps in full-screen simply by touching anywhere on the map with the exception of a point of interest, such as bus stations, shops, restaurants, hotels, etc.

In addition, the new Google Maps update displays transit line colors on the map every time transit directions are requested by the user. Furthermore, you can now filter search results for Zagat-rated restaurants, but only if they are available in your area, of course.

Best of all, you can now use the built-in voice search function to get directions. Simply press the mic button on the search box and say, “directions to” a place. Lastly, there’s no piece of software on Earth without bugs, so Google also fixed some in the 4.4.0 release of Google Maps, which you can download right now from the App Store.

While Google Maps for iOS has been optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, it is also compatible with iPad and iPod Touch devices running iOS 7.0 or later. Google Maps now has support for 220 countries and territories and offers transit directions and maps for over 15,000 cities and towns.
