Web browser now opens PDFs in external applications, detects text encoding
Fans of the Google Chrome web browser on iOS have a new version to download which opens PDFs in other apps, saves your passes to Passbook, and uses text encoding detection to eliminate garbled characters.Chrome has been available for iPhones and iPads for a while now, and Google maintains the mobile browser with the same cadence as it does on the desktop.
Chrome 23 iOS has been enhanced with the ability to open PDF files in other apps, and it can save your boarding passes and tickets in the Passbook application on iOS 6 devices.
“Seeing garbled characters? Turn on text encoding detection in settings,” says Google, mentioning another new addition. The usual bug fixes and security improvements are also included.
Chrome is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later. The app is optimized for iPhone 5.
