A Chinese newspaper citing a recruitment agent for Foxconn's plants in Zhengzhou, Henan province, reveals that production for the next-generation iPhone has begun, and that Foxconn is beefing up on manpower to meet Apple’s demands.

WantChinaTimes reports that, “Foxconn Technology Group is recruiting new workers as the sizable production of the iPhone 6 has begun,” noting that the information comes from a recruitment agent for Foxconn's plants in Zhengzhou, Henan province.

A source speaking with Shanghai's First Financial Daily corroborates the story, saying that although Foxconn has no less than 210,000 workers employed at the Zhengzhou plant, “a large-scale recruitment drive has been launched in several places across the country.”

The recruitment is reportedly aimed at iPhone 6 production, though Apple is expected to unveil an incremental iPhone 5S this year, leaving the iPhone 6 announcement for 2014.
