Administrators are now more polite, speak in a mild tone of voice

Foxconn has lifted some of the restrictions associated with chit chat during work hours after two employees jumped to their deaths from dormitory buildings.

Foxconn, which manufactures Apple’s much-coveted iPhone and iPads, has strict rules at its assembly lines. So strict that many workers can’t cope with the tension and end up committing suicide.

After two more leaped from the top of their dorms last week, the electronics maker decided to lift its “mute mode” policy.

“The atmosphere has changed,” says one employee, who declined to be named.

“The basic-level administrators used to shout at us but, all of a sudden, they start to use language like ‘please keep quiet in the workshop’. This politeness was rarely seen previously,” this person said.

Foxconn actually has “Mute Mode” signs hung around its factories, which it has now removed. Administrators have been told to ease up a bit, too.
