Foursquare iOS version 5.4.3 improves check-in notification settings to help you get just the right updates from just the right people.
You can choose “ALWAYS” to get notifications from the people you love the most, like close friends and family. “You'll get notifications for all their check-ins, no matter where they are in the world,” says the development team.
A second setting lets you receive updates only from “NEARBY” friends. A third option lets you switch off notifications from the people you don’t want to hear from, “and that bike messenger friend who checks in at every spot on his route,” jokes Foursquare Labs.
