iOS 7 has no shortage of wallpapers but, if you’re looking for something new, something that’s more real and beautifully handmade, check out the Instagram works of Alexander Kopatz, a bear researcher who lives at “approximately 70 degrees North.”

Kopatz is a biologist at heart, but he’s also pretty good with a camera. He seems to be especially good with camera apps that come with filters, such as Instagram.

On his trips this summer he captured a beautiful mountain range scene, some strange trees, and foggy hills. He came up with a gloomy yet heartening color palette for his mini gallery and decided to offer the images as free downloads for iOS 7 users.

Kopatz explains, “I just made a few wallpapers for my phone, using captures I made this summer, and tried to consider the 3D parallax effect of the new iOS, which means the pictures should be slightly larger on all sides.”

“Then I thought: ‘why keep them to myself?.’ So here they are; free to share, free to download.”
