New release also brings Per-window Private Browsing, better plugin management

Mozilla this week rolled out Firefox 20.0, a major new version of the company’s popular web browser for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux computers alike.

Firefox 20 packs the usual security fixes, as well as a few enhancements. One of them is “per-window Private Browsing,” which lets you browse the web without having Firefox save information about the sites you visit.

The update also brings the ability to close hanging plugins (without the browser hanging) as well as “continued performance improvements around common browser tasks (page loads, downloads, shutdown, etc.),” according to the release notes.

Most notably for users who are also familiar with Apple’s Safari web browser, Firefox 20 delivers a new download experience that features a download manager similar to the one found in Apple’s native browser.
