Apple this week updated its popular Find My iPhone application with a sleek new design, matching the look and feel of the company’s new mobile OS.

Find My iPhone 5.1 sports a minimalistic design which blends better with iOS 7, the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system powering iPhones and iPads worldwide.

Offered free of charge by Apple, Find My iPhone can pinpoint your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and even a Mac, on a map, and play a sound at full volume (even if your device is muted). You can use it to remotely lock your device with a passcode, display a message on the Lock Screen for the finders to see, and even remotely erase all the data on the lost/stolen device.

You can also get driving directions to the device’s location and see a battery level indicator.

Find My iPhone 3.0 requires iOS 7 or later and an iCloud account. The app works with Internet, so a Wi-Fi or cellular connection is required.

In order to be located, the device must be connected to the Internet via a registered Wi-Fi network. In the case of a Mac, the computer needs to be awake.
