On April 1, 1976, in a garage in Palo Alto, California, two youngsters with an affinity for computers, both named Steve, co-founded Apple Computer Inc., a company that was to become the most valuable of its kind, and not only.

Jobs and Woz started off with a humble budget, but a priceless vision: put a personal computer – or “home computer” as the media called them back in the day – in the hands of every person.

Woz would make most of the tinkering, while Jobs used his wits to convince people – like Paul Terell, the owner of the Byte Shop – to buy their systems and turn a profit. The duo were soon rolling in cash, working on their second and third designs.

The photo above depicts the two technology geniuses around the time they started selling the first Apple computer. Redditor Dathadorne uploaded this colorized version to imgur today, and we’re amazed at the quality of the image. So are fellow redditors. We asked the guy what he used to achieve the feat but he has yet to tell us. In any case, he did a brilliant job with the picture and we wouldn’t mind seeing him work some magic on more historical black & white photos of Apple Inc. and its people.
