The much hyped evasi0n jailbreak from the evad3rs hit a record 270,000 downloads in the first hour since the tool debuted for Mac, Windows, and Linux. The figure could be in the millions now.

“Wow! 270,000+ active users on http://evasi0n.com !!!,” hacker pod2g wrote roughly half an hour into the release of the jailbreak tool.

That was roughly 15 hours ago, which means evasi0n has been downloaded by a lot more people ever since.

Available for Mac, Windows and Linux users alike, evasi0n is a jailbreak for iOS 6.0 through iOS 6.1. It hacks even the newest Apple devices, including the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini, and provides what is referred to as an “untethered” jailbreak. Users can reboot without worry that they’ll lose their precious mod.

If you have any questions regarding the jailbreak process or jailbreaking in general, the evad3rs say you should go to the Jailbreak QA dedicated website.
