Developer Kovid Goyal has released calibre 0.9.7, an update to his popular free e-book library manager that can view, convert and catalog e-books on a Mac.

Calibre 0.9.7 allows easy searching by title and author (in addition to any keyword). This prevents large numbers of spurious matches, according to the developer.

There’s a new option to automatically convert any added book to the current output format (Preferences->Adding books), and users can now view tables in a separate pop-up window by right clicking on the table and selecting 'View table'.

This feature is targeted at users who want reference books that have lots of large tables. There’s also a new option to hide the help message when entering full screen mode.

The e-book viewer gets a few enhancements as well, including an option to always start the viewer in full screen mode, more controls to the context menu (useful in full screen mode), and easy searching of the selected word or phrase in Google.
