XCOM: Enemy Unknown, a strategic combat game for iOS platforms, has received a fresh update which delivers asynchronous multiplayer and other cool stuff.

Version 1.3.0 lets you create a custom squad with alien and human troops, then challenge your friends through Game Center and try to climb the charts in the newly added multiplayer leaderboards.

iOS 7 is now fully supported by the game, and the new version also includes some “general bug fixes,” meaning the game will run more smoothly overall.

2K Games asks interested parties to note that XCOM Enemy Unknown is only compatible with iPad 2 and up, iPad mini, iPod touch 5 and up, and iPhone 4S and up. Earlier devices are not supported.

As usual, the iTunes requirements info is messed up, as it names the iPhone 4 and fourth-generation iPod touches as supported devices. For a game that costs $9.99/€8.99, I’d say that’s a pretty big oversight.
