Redesigned app gets maintenance update packed with bug fixes

WhatsApp 2.11.6 is out with fixes for users who can’t seem to get a decent conversation going, following the debut of another update which redesigned the whole app from top to bottom.

A new version of WhatsApp Messenger (2.11.5) was served up last week with a brand new interface featuring iOS 7 flatness, transparency, and a new keyboard.

The updated app also includes broadcast lists, improved location sharing (with 3D map view and the ability to hide or search places), large thumbnails, new notification sounds, image cropping, and more.

Version 2.11.6 comes with all this goodness inside, plus some bug fixes. Apparently, some users experienced crashes after the 2.11.5 update, while others couldn’t launch the app altogether.

Either way, the developers encourage users to download WhatsApp Messenger 2.11.6 for a bug-free experience. The app is only compatible with iPhones because it needs your phone number. Customers can have iOS versions as low as 4.3 to use WhatsApp.

Update: apparently WhatsApp 2.11.6 is a bad apple. Some users are reporting crashes with this build. If you're fine where you are (2.11.5 or lower), better stay put until the issues are resolved.
