Game creation utility Unity 4.2.1 is now available for download, featuring numerous fixes and enhancements to assist game developers in their day-to-day work.

The changelog is a mile long, so I’ll just highlight a few of the more noteworthy changes, such as a fixed crash when submitting documentation bugs from OS X computers.

Graphics-wise, the update fixes incorrect rendering order on meshes with multiple materials (introduced in Unity 4.2), and addresses multiple texture coordinate handling in immediate mode on OpenGL ES 3.0.

For iOS games, “[Unity 4.2.1] fixes SystemInfo.deviceUniqueIdentifier returning UDID on pre-iOS 7 devices that is different from the one returned in Unity 4.1,” according to the release notes.

Furthermore, the update fixes status bar appearance on iOS 7, and enforces proper screen mode and overscan compensation for AirPlay Displays.

Some OpenGL ES 3.0 fixes have been included for stability, while the OS X Web Player should no longer crash when starting up the web player with IME input mode enabled.
