Hopefully this is not an April Fools’ joke, but the folks at UCWeb Inc. have just rolled out a new version of their immensely popular web browser for jailbroken iPhones and iPads.

So far, we haven’t been able to find the official changelog for UC Browser 9.0.0.260 iOS, but the binary (UCBrowser_V9.0.0.260_ip5.x_pf42_(Build13032820).ipa) is up for grabs and it comes with at least one visible change.

The browser now strangely requires iOS 5.0 (and a jailbroken device, of course). Previously, UC Browser required only iOS 4.3. While the new version may or may not contain any important tweaks and enhancements, an upgrade in the system requirements is particularly noteworthy. Strangely, UCWeb didn’t consider this an important aspect.

You can download both UC Browser v8.9.0.238 for iOS 4.3 or later (AppStore version) and UC Browser v9.0.0.260 for iOS 5.x (Jailbreak) at the link below.
