Pangu falls behind as TaiG becomes the de facto JB tool

If you accidentally updated to iOS 8.1.1 and lost your Pangu jailbreak in the process, all is not lost. A second team of hackers in China have released a tool called TaiG, which can jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The tool is Windows-only for now and its GUI is in Chinese, but if you follow the steps described by the guys at redsn0w.us, you should be able to get a new jailbreak going. We're not taking the plunge until a more stable (English-supported) version is released.

The first thing you need to do is download TaiG on your PC and extract its contents. You can then launch iTunes and connect your device to the computer using the Lightning connector.

You’ll then need to restore your iDevice to iOS 8.1.1, turn off Find My iPhone (in Settings > iCloud), enable AirPlane mode via Control Center, and then right-click on the TaiGJBreak_1006.exe tool and select to run it with administrator privileges.

Wait for TaiG to recognize your device, keep Cydia checked, uncheck the second box, and finally click the green jailbreak button. The jailbreak process should now be underway and you should see a smiley face when it’s done. Whatever you do, don’t interrupt the process. It can be dangerous for your device. When the phone reboots, you should see Cydia installed. That’s it!
