Security company Sophos has rolled out a new version of its Anti-Virus program for Mac users with updated threat detection and threat data engines, and different installers for different OS X versions.

Sophos Anti-Virus 8.0.10 OS X now comes with one installer that goes with OS X versions 10.4 (Tiger) to 10.7 (Lion), and another installer that’s specifically designed for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.

Users can select and download the installer they need by following the link below. To download anything you’ll need to log in with a valid MySophos account.

After installing the new Sophos Anti-Virus 8.0.10, users will notice that the Scan with Sophos Anti-Virus command is not immediately contained in a Finder shortcut menu. It will appear when the user logs back in to their Mac again, says Sophos.

The same goes for uninstalling Sophos Anti-Virus. The Scan with Sophos Anti-Virus command will immediately disappear as the user logs back in.

The antivirus company also notes that in the Sophos Enterprise Console and Sophos Control Center users can can set up email alerting.
