SlingPlayer for iPhone, the app that lets you take control of your TV and DVR right from your iPhone's display, has received an update that lets it stream uninterrupted video to the Apple TV set top box via AirPlay.

SlingPlayer lets you flip through your local channels with a virtual remote, pause, fast-forward, and rewind, schedule DVR recordings, watch video on demand and pay-per-view programs, all from your iDevice, anywhere around the house.

Supported iDevices include iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPad second generation, iPad third generation, iPad fourth generation, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPod touch fourth generation, and iPod touch fifth generation. You’ll need the actual box from Slingbox, of course, and the app costs $14.99 / €13.99, which is pretty steep.

But if you find its functionality relevant, then you probably already own it. Now’s the time to rejoice as the latest version gets new improvements. This includes an uninterrupted AirPlay stream to your Apple TV when SlingPlayer is put into the background, improved Roku connection performance, the ability to manually add Roku box via IP in settings, and bug fixes.

SlingPlayer for iPhone supports English, Bokmål, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish, and requires iOS 6.1.
