Skype Communications S.a.r.l has released a new version of its IM and video chatting client for iPhone customers adding a new ability to automatically reconnect a dropped call on slow networks.

Updated minutes ago, Skype 4.5 for iPhone “automatically reconnects a dropped call when your WiFi or mobile network reception is poor,” according to Skype Communications S.a.r.l.

The update also includes some “general” fixes and improvements, as well as a specific patch to make one-to-one chats appear in the correct order.

iPhone owners who are using Skype on their smartphone for the first time will be able to get started with a fresh account right on their iPhone. The app also automatically looks for friends who might have Skype installed.

Skype is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad. It requires iOS 5.0 or later and is optimized for iPhone 5.
