Skype Communications S.a.r.l has released its second iOS update for the week, squashing some vulnerabilities. Skype 4.2.1 is immediately available for iPhone and iPad from the iTunes App Store.

After releasing version 4.2 with Windows Messenger support and a bunch of other enhancements, the development team behind Skype discovered that the iOS client was in need of more maintenance.

Specifically, Skype 4.2 suffered from a few bugs that hindered customers’ experience. Skype 4.2.1 is now available with some “critical bug fixes,” on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

The developers fail to offer any specifics as to what these bugs did exactly. As usual, the Skype Garage blog mentions ongoing efforts to squash more bugs in a list of “known issues” with the software.

Up next is a set of bugs that affect the sign in / sign out process, calling, and a rare crash with subsequent calls if the application runs in background mode.
